Setting up an alternate universe -- or at least a separate domain for a new organization
Submitted by kcarruthers on Wed, 2011-12-21 11:11Using domainsatcost.ca as a registrar (because even though I don't go there, or even actually call very often, they're right down the street and really do provide good service for a reasonable price, and I always feel like they know I'm right close by so they better not mess me around).
I was using a cool DNS service called zonomi.com because domainsatcost did not include DNS hosting with their registration, but now they do :)
So for when I have to do this again (like, right after Christmas):

Drush is my new best friend
Submitted by kcarruthers on Mon, 2010-12-20 10:54Okay, I didn't learn this today, but when I was at Drupal Camp in Montreal there was a lot of talk about how Drush will change our lives, and after spending a few hours with it, I'm convinced.
Especially when combined with tiny little module names (install Design Suite, with a module name of ds by typing "drush dl ds" then "drush en ds" to get a real feeling of power and time savings (it would have been several seconds to scroll through all those modules).

Favourite things
Submitted by kcarruthers on Wed, 2010-10-20 13:10I just found http://cacoo.com/ .
Online diagrams, very easy, attractive, export to PNG free.
Haven't hit the limit yet of the free account, but the PNG opens fine in OOoDraw, so if necessary can add/tweak there.
